Wallingford YMCA hands out honors at annual celebration this month
WALLINGFORD — The Wallingford Family YMCA will recognize members, volunteers, staff and community partners at its 74th annual celebration this month.
YMCA Executive Director Sean Doherty said the honorees, including the owner of Neil’s Donuts and an aerobics instructor, were selected in a process that began last year. The honorees were nominated and voted on by members.

WALLINGFORD — Families spent the afternoon Saturday playing Thanksgiving-themed games and activities at the annual Turkey Palooza at the Wallingford Family YMCA.
There were physical activities in the gym and board games and arts and crafts in the community room. The event was free with the donation of a non-perishable food item.

WALLINGFORD — The Wallingford YMCA hosted its annual Fishbein/YMCA Community Road Race on Sunday. The event helps fund the YMCA’s community support campaign and Livestrong at the YMCA, a program for cancer survivors.
This is the second year that the Fishbein Road Race coincided with the Taste of Wallingford, the town-wide celebration of Wallingford.

Annual Fishbein/YMCA Community Road Race road race set for Oct. 7 in Wallingford
WALLINGFORD – The annual Fishbein/YMCA Community Road Race will be held on Oct. 7 as part of the Celebrate Wallingford festival.
The event includes a 5K and 10K race as well as a one mile walk, with proceeds benefiting the Wallingford Family YMCA Community Support Campaign and the Livestrong at the YMCA program for cancer survivors.

Wallingford puppies take a plunge during YMCA event
WALLINGFORD — Their backstrokes might need work, but the doggie paddle was on display at the Wallingford Family YMCA’s Puppie Plunge on Sunday.
“I think it’s a really unique event, because not a lot of places are going to open their doors not only to all humans in the community, but also all dogs,” said Alex Hunter, the YMCA’s aquatics director.
Wallingford YMCA summer camp celebrates ‘Ulbrich Day’
WALLINGFORD — The campers at the YMCA’s Camp Ulbrich summer program got a special visit recently from Weston Ulbrich, who brought pizzas in honor of “Ulbrich Day.”
