Thank you for your interest in our childcare programs, offered at both the YMCA Learning Community at Choate and at Masonicare. We are committed to providing high-quality childcare through our early childhood, pre-K & Kindergarten programs.

YMCA Learning Community
at Choate
The YMCA Learning Community (YLC), formerly The Learning Community (TLC) was founded by the Wallingford Family YMCA in 1989. Because of the need for growth of childcare, a partnership was created between the YMCA and Choate Rosemary Hall. As a result, our childcare program moved into the renovated Bronfman building at Choate in September 1994. A main focus of this partnership is the joint learning experienced by children, Choate students, parents and teachers.

YMCA Learning Community
at Masonicare
Masonicare and the Wallingford Family YMCA were excited to announce that beginning in August 2020, the YMCA will manage the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) accredited Early Childcare center on the Masonicare Health Center campus. We are excited to expand our YLC program to the West Side!
The YMCA brings its 75 years of experience developing youth, including 30 years of providing quality Early Childcare programs, to carry on the history of childcare on the Masonicare Health Center campus. The center will continue to be open to Masonicare employees as well as the Greater Wallingford community and will begin offering expanded services such as swim lessons and family programming.

WELCOME TO CHILDCARE!
Hello and thank you for your interest in our YMCA Learning Communities!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Emily, and I am the Director of Childcare at the Wallingford Family YMCA. I grew up in Wallingford, and the Y has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have worked here for over half of my life and I am amazed at the commitment of the staff here. Through special events, book fairs, picnics, parades, community service, and every day communication, teachers & families work together to foster growth & development in our children. As you learn more about our childcare program, you’ll see that our families are very happy here and have brought many generations to TLC for care.
I am always available to answer any questions you may have regarding your child’s care. I can be reached by phone at 203-697-2150 or by email at ewalter@wallingfordymca.org, and my door is always open!
I look forward to learning and growing with your little ones!
-Emily Walter, Director of Childcare
