Our Mission at the Wallingford Family YMCA is to build Strong Kids, Strong Families, Strong Communities.

We value the following attributes of personal character and ethical behavior and believe they are essential to attaining our mission:

Caring: To love others; to be sensitive to the well-being of others; to help others.
Honesty: To tell the truth; to be worthy of trust; to have integrity.
Respect: To treat others as you would have them treat you; to value the worth of every person, including yourself.
Responsibility: To do what you ought to do; to be accountable for your behavior and your obligations.

At the Wallingford Family YMCA, we expect staff, members, volunteers and guests to act in accordance with our mission and values at all times. We demonstrate Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility by:

  • Speaking in respectful tones, refraining from the use of vulgar or derogatory language and dressing appropriately.
  • Resolving conflicts in a respectful, honest and caring manner; never resorting to physical contact or threatening gestures.
  • Respecting the property of others; never engaging in theft or destruction.
  • Creating a safe, caring environment; picking up after ourselves and one another. This is your YMCA.
  • The YMCA is a drug, alcohol and smoke free facility. Smoking, alcohol or drug use and/or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol on the premises is prohibited.
  • No alcohol will be allowed on the premises unless at a sanctioned YMCA event.
  • Cooperating with staff and complying with all health and safety procedures including evacuation of the building.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE YMCA CODE OF CONDUCT MAY RESULT IN A SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP.

Registration: It is the YMCA’s policy that current members are allowed to register for programs prior to the general public. Walk-in and phone-in registration is available.

Refunds/Credits: Program fees are fully refundable if withdrawal from a class occurs due to a doctor-documented illness. Vouchers may be issued in lieu of refunds and are valid for one year. If withdrawal from a class occurs for any reason after the first or second class, a 50% refund/credit may be issued. No refunds will be issued after the third class. All refunds are subject to program directors approval. If the YMCA cancels a class, 100% refund will be given.

Cancellations: Every effort will be made to provide makeup for classes canceled by the YMCA due to instructor illness, inclement weather or holidays. If this is not possible, letters of credit will be issued.

Entering the building: Everyone entering building must stop at welcome center. Members and community participants must scan cards, visitors and guests must check in and sign visitor's log/liability waiver.
