Aquatics Director
Job Description: The Wallingford Family YMCA has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, adventurous, highly motivated, self-starter who possesses strong skills in human relations, team building and leadership, with strong verbal and written communications to lead our Aquatics operations.
Our focus is delivering high quality programs and services that benefit the Greater Wallingford Community. Our YMCA serves over 6,800 members and participants annually through programs and services. Our 54,000 square foot facility is located in the beautiful suburban town of Wallingford, Connecticut.
Responsibilities include:
• Operation and management of (2) year-round pools.
• Fiscal management & budget development
• Relationship building with staff, members, participants, volunteers and community.
• “Creative” Program management, development, implementation and promotion.
• Leadership and supervision of FT and PT aquatic staff.
• Community relations and event coordination.
• Perform “Manager on Duty” responsibilities as determined by procedures.
Qualifications: Must hold a Bachelor's Degree in related field along with three years of successful related aquatic management experience. Must have strong organizational skills and have experience in recruiting, training and must understand the importance of staff retention. The candidate must have the following certifications (or equivalent): YMCA Lifeguard, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Oxygen Admin., First Aid, YMCA Swim Instructor and Certified Pool Operator. Preferred certifications (or equivalent) would include: YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, YMCA Swim Instructor trainer and YMCA Aquatic Management.
Salary: $37,500 - $42,000
Additional Compensation Details: The Aquatics Director position is a full-time exempt position and includes employee benefits including medical and dental, short & long term disability plan, life insurance, holidays, sick, vacation, excellent YMCA funded 12% retirement contribution plan and a free YMCA membership.

Head Teachers
School Age Child Care – Implement and direct YMCA school age child care program at one of Wallingford’s elementary school. Must enjoy working with school age children helping with homework, art projects, games, etc. Must be able to communicate with parents and supervise staff. Head Teacher Certificate required or 15 credits in child care related field. Hours 6:45 am – 8:45 am, and 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
