Class Descriptions

Spring, 2008 slate of classes

20/20 - This class incorporates 20 minutes of intense cardio with 20 minutes of resistance training to sculpt and define those muscles.  Appropriate for all fitness levels.

AB Busters - Just Abs.  Blast you abs into gear.  Focus is on all the muscles of the abdomen.

Abs, Pilates, Balance - Looking for a strong and sculpted mid-section? Primary emphasis will be on the abdominal and lower and upper back regions.  Toning abdominal and back exercises, pilates work, and balance work will be incorporated.

Ball Blast - This class is packed with cardio, core and strength exercises using stability balls and medicine balls.  Come to class for a challenging yet FUN workout!

Bellydancing with Aleenah
Raise your fitness level, coordination, and confidence as you discover the magic of one of the oldest and most beautiful dance forms! This class delivers gentle, yet intense total body workout, while providing clear, easy to follow instruction in the basics of bellydance. More details here.

Cardio X-Train - This cross-training formatted class will take you everywhere!  From indoor cycling, to step to working with the cardio ball.  Your heart will get a good workout while you burn maximum calories.  Class format schedule posted weekly.

Cardio Crunch - 45 minutes of high energy!  This class mixes it up each week with any of the following:  step, aerobics, jump rope drills and core strengthening.  This class is great for the intermediate to advanced exerciser. 

Circuit Training - A high energy circuit class combining cardio, weights, balls, steps, body bars and more!  Instructor demonstrates high and low modifications for each exercise.  All fitness levels welcome!

Classic Combo - Get a total fitness workout combining aerobics, step and strength training.  Great for all fitness levels!

Cycling - Experience all terrain challenges including hills, flat roads, switch backs, jumps speed and sprints.  Great for all fitness levels.  Join us in our brand new cycling room!

Get Me Started! NEW! - No more generic, carbon copy exercise routines for you! Enroll in this two-part training program to meet two personalized fitness goals:
     Part one: Assess your current personal fitness levels for cardiovacular fitness, muscular endurance, core strength, and flexibility.
     Part two: Review a comprehensive fitness report and, together with a personal trainer, formulate a program that leverages your fitness strengths and compensates your fitness deficits. See Personal Training page.

YMCA Members: $50. Program Members: $70.

High Endurance Cycling - The ultimate in cardiovascular training.  This class will focus strictly on endurance.

Express Pump/Tone & Trim - Want a stronger more shapely, toned body?  In this class, all major muscle groups are targeted. You’ll be using hand weights, body bars, resistance tubing, medicine and stability balls - guaranteed to sweat and have fun!  Perfect for all levels!

Extreme Kickboxing - Kickboxing drills and circuits are performed in this dynamic class that also partners you up for sparring.  Ideal for intermediate to advanced exercisers.

Yoga - This class begins with self awareness centering by means of breath work and/or visualization to begin the relaxation process.  The class progresses with gentle stretching to warm up the muscles before moving on to more challenging positions.

Some Yoga Moves...

 

Mat Science - Mat Science exercises are derived from classic disciplines such as yoga, dance and sports rehab conditioning. The focus of Mat Science is on mindful movement, core stabilization technique and unified body movements.

Pilates - A total body mat workout with emphasis on the core muscles (abdominals and low back) All fitness levels welcome.

PiYo - This fusion style strength and flexibility class is designed to uniquely challenge your core, building abdominal and back strength.  If you like to move with grace and power, come try PiYo!

Power Hour Pump - If you want to tone and sculpt all major muscle groups this is the class for you!  This class will offer a combination of body bars, hand weights and stability balls.  We’ll mix it up each week so be sure to bring water and a “whatever it takes” attitude!

Sculpt & Glide NEW! –Uses gliding discs for an innovative, fun class that emphasizes smooth flowing motion. Take your fitness to a new level and challenge yourself in unique ways.

Sculpt & Define - Hand weights, body bars and body weight will be used in this class to sculpt and define those muscles!

Step Classes - We offer a level just right for you.  Choose from beginner or intermediate levels. 

TurboKick™ - An addictive work out combining kickboxing, sport drills, yoga and tai chi.  Whether your style is athletic or dance based, this class is sure to “TurboKick” you into shape!  Appropriate for any level.

Vinyasa Yoga - Experience flowing asanas (poses) linked by the breath to detoxify, stretch, and strengthen the body and build life force energy. 

Zumba - This class is a fusion of Latin and International music that creates a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system.

Class Fees: $55 Members, $70 Program Members.

 

Personal Training

Personal training is one of the best ways to improve your health and fitness. Our trainers will design programs to help you meet and exceed your goals! We offer sessions by the hour or half hour based on your schedule and training needs. Specialized training is available; just let your trainer know what your ideal work out would be.
