Dolphins   USA Swimming Program   Dolphin Squad 

This coed program was formed to develop spirit, mind, and body of youth ages 5-18. The team competes in the YMCA Yankee Cluster League. YMCA Swim Team provides an opportunity to compete in the Cluster, Regional, and National Levels.

The season runs October 12 through the beginning of March 2010. Practice consists of stroke development and conditioning. The Junior & Senior groups will also include a strength training/ dry-land conditioning program.

In order to develop each child to their potential, swimmers are grouped by ability levels. Swim meets are matched with children in their own age group from other teams. All children are given the opportunity to compete in the swim meets which are held on Saturdays.

Because of the size of the team, the use of Sheehan High School pool for some practices may be arranged. Membership is required for all Dolphin Swim Team participants.

Winter, 2010 - $65

Session 2 will run January 4- March 5, 2010- (9 weeks) Registration for session 2 will be December 14 for YMCA Members, and Dec. 21 for Community Members. Returning swimmers may register beginning Dec. 7, 2009.

Squad limited to 25 members.

YMCA membership required.

Practice will be an hour once a week

The Wallingford Dolphins “Dolphin Squad” is designed for swimmers who want to transition from formal lessons into the swim team experience. The Dolphin Squad introduces swimmers to the swim team environment. Swimmers will participate in one Dolphin swim meet. Swimmers looking to join must be able to complete 1 lap (25 yards) without a flotation device.

They will compete in one dual meet in 2009 and one meet in 2010. Competition in league championships is by coach recommendation; a $20 championship fee will be assessed for those swimmers at that time.

SWIM TEAM DISCOUNTS

Family- 1st child pays full price. All other children in family will receive a 10% discount. Highest price prevails.

Bring a Friend: Any swim team member who brings a friend to the Wallingford Dolphins Swim Team will receive a 10% credit toward any program or membership within the YMCA.
